Becoming a Member

Membership at FUUCI provides a number of benefits and responsibilities.

Sunday Services and other congregational programs and activities are open to members, friends, and visitors. We invite you to attend our programs and to join our community if and when you are ready.

Who Can Join? Anyone who agrees to uphold the purposes and principles of the Church and is ready to make a financial pledge (or contribution of record) can join. Further membership details are described in the Church's bylaws, which can be reviewed upon request. How Do I Join? Joining our congregation is done by contacting our congregational president, our membership chairperson, or our minister. After you have expressed your interest in joining our congregation, a membership ceremony will be scheduled. This normally takes place during a special Sunday service. At one point in the service, a short program led by our minister will introduce you to the congregation. At that point you will be invited to sign our membership book. Signing signifies that you agree with the principles of our congregation and accept the rights and responsibilities of membership. Soon after signing, you will be contacted about completing a pledge card and serving on a committee.

Why Become a Member? Membership makes a statement that you are ready to become a full-fledged participant in our spiritual and social community, by standing up to be counted, and by making a commitment of time, money, and energy to support the well-being of our congregation. What Are the Benefits of Joining? Members are able to vote at the congregation's Annual Meeting, at which time the direction of the congregation for the coming year is discussed and voted on. Members can also vote on by-law and other policy changes as they are presented to the congregation during the year. In addition, members can serve as committee chairs, or on the Board, when nominated and elected to such positions at the Annual Meeting. As a member, you will also receive the UU World and all FUUCI notices.
